Top 10 Tracks [November 2021]

I know this isn't my usual techy content, but I want to try something new. I'm very invested in music and listen to a lot of types of music. I'm primary into various genres of rock and metal at the moment, but I will list some pop songs along the way too. Most of the stuff this month is metalcore, but there are two deathcore songs and two pop-punk tracks. Let me know how you like this content; what would you change, is this something you would be interested in seeing more of in the future, less of (maybe just the playlist and no article?).

1. Knife Party - POORSTACY & Oli Sykes

Probably one of the best tracks from POORSTACY's PARTY AT THE CEMETARY album, Knife Party blends metalcore with horror to create this eerie tune. Despite movie and cinematic influences on the latest album, it manages to create the same terrifying vibe without overlapping or copying the likes of Ice Nine Kills with how soundtrack-y they are or Ghostemane with his horror-ific ANTI-ICON album. The album is probably one of the best I've heard this year for it's amazing energy, dark vibes, and catering to almost every genre within the rock realm.

2. JOBBO - WSTR

The pop-punkers are finally back with their latest single, JOBBO. Thank fuck it's not a pop-bop like All The Rage (still a good song, but leans to far into the pop realm). The song is more remniscent of 'Identity Crisis' than 'Red, Green or Inbetween,' which I'm really indifferent about since both versions of their sound are pretty good.

3. To The Hellfire - Lorna Shore

I very recently got into the deathcore genre, and what better band to begin with than Lorna Shore? To The Hellfire is a good song overall, a bit boring in the middle from repetition but it's well worth it for the ending riffs and screaming. The sounds are literally inhuman and I could listen to them on repeat for days on end.

4. Eyeless - Bring Me The Horizon

You're probably thinking, wrong band! That's Slipknot. Actually, Bring Me The Horizon covered Eyeless, and it's the reason Corey Taylor first discovered their music. The cover isn't on Spotify unfortunately, so I will include a song from Bring Me The Horizon in its place on the Spotify version of the playlist.

5. Parasite - Noira

Female-led Finnish band, Noira's debut single is explosive! It reminds me a bit of Slipknot's musical style with slight inspiration from Marilyn Manson's vocal style. The band only have two singles out at the time of writing, Parasite and Karma. If you are nostalgic for nu-metal, try this band!

6. Funeral Derangements - Ice Nine Kills

From the follow up album to The Silver Scream, Funeral Derangements is definitely my favourite track from their latest and greatest album. Judging by the name, you can already tell that it follows the same cinematic style from the album prior and doesn't stray from it.

7. Sun Killer - Spirit Box

I'd never heard Spirit Box before this song, but it reminded me a little bit of Evanescence, not just because of the female vocals but because of the overall feel of the song. It felt holy somehow and was a lot lighter than I was expecting.

8. Asylum - Vended

Never heard of Vended before? Listen to the singers' voice and think, just for a few seconds, maybe compare it to the likes of Slipknot or Stone Sour? The band consists of Griffin Taylor and Simon Crahan, which should also ring some bells if you know who are in Slipknot. Either way, their debut singles are out and they have an incoming EP landing November 12th on all platforms.

9. Time Tables - The Menzingers

I fell in love with Strangers Forever, but most of the other songs from that album didn't really sound that good to me. Exploring their other stuff, I came across this song and liked how it was still pop-punk, but leaned much more on punk rock rather than pop.

10. Baba Yaga - Slaughter to Prevail

Another deathcore tune, Russian band Slaughter to Prevail named the song after a Slavic folklore, Baba Yaga. The song really hits, even though  I can't understand all of it yet and some of it is in another language, presumably Russian.
